Short answer
On Google Workspace, Gemini is already included in Business Starter, Standard and Plus. Gemini Enterprise is a separate Google Cloud product, from US$21 per seat per month (Business edition), for teams that need AI search and agents across many apps, such as Microsoft 365 or Slack.
Two products called Gemini
The naming is confusing because Google used to sell Workspace add-ons called Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise. Google's Workspace admin article says that from January 2025 those AI features moved into Workspace Business and Enterprise plans, and the old add-ons (now called Gemini Business–Legacy and Gemini Enterprise–Legacy) are no longer sold. The current Gemini Enterprise is a different, Google Cloud product.

What Gemini in your Workspace plan already includes
Google says the AI features available depend on your Workspace edition. Our Business Starter vs Standard guide has the details; in short, as of October 2026:
| Workspace plan | Price (flexible, SG, before GST) | Gemini features |
|---|---|---|
| Business Starter | S$9.40/user/month | Gemini assistant in Gmail and chat with the Gemini app |
| Business Standard | S$18.80/user/month | Adds Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Meet and more, expanded Gemini app and Notebook features |
| Business Plus | S$29.40/user/month | As Standard, plus Vault and more storage |
Admins can turn the Gemini app and Gemini Notebook on or off, control whether Meet can take notes, and manage smart features. Google says existing Workspace data protections apply to these AI features, and content is not used for model training outside your domain without permission. Our Gemini in Gmail privacy guide covers the settings to check.
What Gemini Enterprise adds
Google's Gemini Enterprise Business page describes it as AI for teams that need answers grounded in company data across many systems. The main additions over Workspace's built-in Gemini:
| Feature | What it means for a small business |
|---|---|
| Connectors to Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, GitHub, HubSpot and more | Ask one question and get an answer drawn from files and messages in several apps |
| Permission-aware enterprise search | Answers only use content each person is allowed to see |
| Deep Research and other pre-built agents | Multi-step research across web and internal data |
| No-code agent builder | Automate repeatable tasks by describing them in plain language |
| Gemini Notebook with up to 300 documents | Shared, source-grounded workspaces for a team |
| Admin controls for connectors and sharing | Admins decide which apps users can connect |
Google's editions comparison lists the Business edition for 1 to 500 users with 25 GiB of pooled storage and data indexing per user. The Standard and Plus editions are for larger organisations, with more storage per user and the full connector ecosystem; check Google's pages or sales team for their current prices.
Who actually needs Gemini Enterprise
For most Singapore SMEs on Workspace, the built-in Gemini covers drafting, summarising and meeting notes. Gemini Enterprise pays off when your information is split across tools.
Consider Gemini Enterprise if
- Your files are split between Google Drive, OneDrive and SharePoint
- Answers need data from a CRM, helpdesk or project tool
- You want staff to build simple agents for repeat tasks
- You use Microsoft 365 for email but want Google's AI
Stay with Workspace Gemini if
- Almost everything lives in Gmail, Drive and Meet
- You mainly want help writing emails and documents
- Nobody has time to set up and govern connectors
- Budget is tight: US$21 per seat on top of Workspace adds up
If your company runs on Microsoft 365, compare Gemini Enterprise with Microsoft's own Copilot first; our Copilot vs Gemini guide covers both.
How to test it before buying
Google offers a 30-day trial of the Business edition. Use it on a real problem, not a demo.
Pick one cross-app question
For example: 'What did we quote this client, and what did they say about it?' when the quote is in Drive and the emails are in Outlook.
Connect only the apps needed
Start with two connectors and a small group of users, not the whole company.
Check permissions
Confirm a junior user cannot get answers from HR, payroll or director folders.
Compare with built-in Gemini
Try the same task with Gemini in Workspace. If the answer is as good, you do not need the extra seats.
Decide per team
Buy seats only for the people who need cross-app answers or agents.
Do it yourself or get help?
Turning Workspace's built-in Gemini on or off takes minutes in the admin console. Gemini Enterprise needs more care: connectors, permissions and agent governance.
IT Sorted is a Singapore-based team of developers with over 10 years of experience. Microsoft 365 / Google Security Lockdown (S$590) enforces MFA, cleans up admin roles and tightens Drive and SharePoint sharing, which is the groundwork before connecting any AI search tool. Google's Gemini Enterprise Business page says it starts at US$21 per seat per month, as of October 2026, with a 30-day trial. That is on top of any Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 subscription. Standard and Plus editions for larger organisations cost more; check Google's current pricing or sales team.
No. Google previously sold Workspace add-ons called Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise. These are now called Gemini Business–Legacy and Gemini Enterprise–Legacy and are no longer sold, because their features moved into Workspace plans. Today's Gemini Enterprise is a separate Google Cloud product.
Yes. Google lists Microsoft 365 among the business apps Gemini Enterprise Business can connect to, along with OneDrive, Google Workspace, Slack and others. Admins control which connectors users can use. This makes it an option for companies on Microsoft 365 email that want Google's AI, but compare it with Microsoft Copilot first.
