How we write our guides

Our 132 guides answer practical IT questions for Singapore businesses. This page explains where the facts come from, how prices are dated, how often guides are reviewed and how to tell us when something is wrong.

Last updated

Primary sources

Prices, laws, deadlines and figures are checked against the official page that publishes them, and linked in the text.

Dated prices

Third-party prices are approximate and marked "as of" the month we checked them.

Reviewed on a schedule

Fast-moving guides are reviewed every quarter, news guides when the official source changes.

Corrections

Errors are fixed as soon as we confirm them, and the Reviewed date moves with the fix.

Who writes the guides

Guides are published by the IT Sorted team, the same small freelance team that does the work described on our services pages. We do not use invented author personas, and each guide is credited to the team rather than to a made-up expert. More about us is on the about page.

How we research and check facts

  • Every price, rule, deadline and statistic is checked against a primary source: the government agency, regulator or vendor that publishes it (for example PDPC, CSA, IRAS, IMDA, ACRA, or the vendor's own pricing page). The source is linked next to the claim.
  • Third-party prices are approximate and dated, written as “as of October 2026”. Vendors change prices and plans without notice, so always confirm on their page before you buy.
  • If we cannot confirm a fact from a reliable source, we leave it out rather than guess.
  • We only describe tests we actually ran. Comparisons of software and AI models use the vendors' documentation and published benchmarks, with dates and links.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help with research (finding and summarising sources) and with drafting. They do not replace the checks above: facts are checked against the primary sources, every guide passes automated checks (links, dates, prices marked as of a date, formatting) before it goes live, and an AI tool is never cited as a source. We are responsible for every guide we publish, whoever typed the first draft, and we correct errors as soon as they are reported.

Dates and how often guides are reviewed

Each guide shows a Reviewed date under its title. That is the last time the content was checked and the date its “as of” prices refer to.

  • Price and product comparisons (software plans, AI models, payment fees) are reviewed every quarter.
  • News guides (new rules, scams, official announcements) are updated when the official source publishes a change.
  • How-to and checklist guides are reviewed when the underlying product, law or price changes, or when a reader reports a problem.

Corrections

When we find an error, or a reader reports one and we confirm it, we fix the guide and update its Reviewed date. If the correction changes advice that matters (a wrong price, rule or deadline), we say so in the guide next to the corrected text.

Example scenarios

Some guides include a box labelled Example scenario: a made-up but typical case, such as “a 10-person clinic”, used to show how the numbers or steps work out. These are illustrations, not customer stories. They use no real or invented names of people or companies. We do not publish testimonials or reviews.

Independence and how the guides are funded

We sell fixed-price IT services, and guides link to the service that solves the problem they describe, with its price. That is how we pay for the guides. We do not accept payment from vendors to be mentioned or ranked, and our guides do not use affiliate links.

Not legal, tax or financial advice

Guides on PDPA, licensing, tax and similar topics are general information for Singapore businesses, written in plain English. They are not legal advice. For decisions with legal consequences, check the regulator's guidance or speak to a qualified professional.
