Admin controls, data and training defaults
For PDPA purposes, the key point is the same on both: content in the business workspace is not used to train models by default, unlike the personal plans where training is opt-out. Admin features differ slightly.
| Control | Claude Team | ChatGPT Business |
|---|---|---|
| SSO and domain verification | Yes | Yes (SAML SSO) |
| Central billing and usage analytics | Yes | Yes |
| Admin controls for connectors | Yes (remote and local connectors) | Not listed; connector registry is Enterprise only |
| Spend controls per user or organisation | Yes | Yes |
| SCIM user provisioning | Enterprise only | Enterprise only |
| Audit logs / Compliance API | Enterprise only | Enterprise only |
| Custom data retention | Enterprise only | Enterprise only |
| Data residency (including Singapore) | Not listed for Team | Enterprise only |
OpenAI's enterprise privacy page and Anthropic's privacy centre describe retention and deletion. In both cases, the bigger PDPA risk for a small company is staff using personal accounts instead of the company workspace.
Which suits a writing-heavy vs a mixed team
We have not run our own tests. Published leaderboards change monthly; our ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini guide lists them with dates. In practice the choice usually follows the work your staff do most.
Choose Claude Team if
- Most work is proposals, reports, tenders and client letters
- Staff read long contracts or PDFs and need summaries
- Someone codes and would use Claude Code
- You want built-in slide, document and dashboard tools from the same vendor
Choose ChatGPT Business if
- Marketing needs image generation and quick visuals
- Staff want voice mode and the ChatGPT mobile app they already know
- You plan to share custom GPTs or workspace agents across the team
- You may grow past 150 people on the same plan
Both have project folders for shared instructions and files; our comparison of ChatGPT Projects, custom GPTs and Claude Projects explains how they differ.
How to decide in a month: a short pilot
Rather than guessing, give both a short, structured trial with the people who will use them most.
Pick 3 to 5 heavy users
Choose people who write, research or analyse daily, from different roles.
Buy the minimum seats on monthly billing
Two seats each on monthly billing keeps the test cheap and easy to cancel.
Agree five real tasks
For example a client proposal, a contract summary, a spreadsheet analysis, a social post and a customer email reply.
Score each tool on the same tasks
Accuracy, time saved, edits needed and whether staff would keep using it.
Check admin and connectors
Connect SSO and one connector (SharePoint or Google Drive) and check what the AI can and cannot see.
Decide and move everyone over
Buy annual seats on the winner, close personal accounts used for work and publish a short AI use policy.
Do it yourself or get help?
Either workspace takes about 15 minutes to create. The work that matters is the setup around it: SSO, MFA on the owner account, and making sure connectors cannot reach HR or payroll folders.
IT Sorted is a Singapore-based team of developers with over 10 years of experience. Microsoft 365 / Google Security Lockdown (S$590) enforces MFA, cleans up admin roles and tightens sharing in the Microsoft 365 or Google account your AI tool connects to. Frequently asked questions
No, as of October 2026 they are priced the same. Both list standard seats at US$20 per seat per month on annual billing and US$25 monthly, and premium seats at US$100 annually or US$125 monthly. Prices exclude tax. Total cost depends on how many premium seats you need and whether you pay annually.
Both need at least two seats. Claude Team is for teams of 2 to 150 people and ChatGPT Business for 2 to 200. A sole proprietor would use a personal plan such as Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus instead, with training switched off in the privacy settings, or buy two business seats.
Both vendors say content in their business plans is not used for model training by default. That is different from their personal plans, where training is on unless the user opts out. For PDPA purposes, keep work in the company workspace and close personal accounts staff used for work.
Yes, and some companies do, giving each team the tool that suits its work. The downside is two bills, two admin consoles and two places where company data lives. For a team under 30 people, one tool with a few premium seats is usually simpler to manage and secure.
Both connect to Microsoft 365. Anthropic lists Claude for Microsoft 365 and Claude for Outlook on its Team plan, and OpenAI lists Microsoft 365 connectors and Word, Excel and PowerPoint extensions on Business. If you mainly want AI inside Outlook and Teams themselves, also compare Microsoft 365 Copilot.
