Short answer
Blog posts and other repeatable content move into Webflow CMS by CSV import (files up to 4 MB). Pages, design, forms and plugins are rebuilt. Add 301 redirects for every changed URL, and keep email hosting where it is, because Webflow does not provide it.
What transfers from WordPress to Webflow, and what doesn't
Webflow's help article Migrate from WordPress to Webflow CMS describes the route: export your WordPress content in XML, convert it to CSV, create a Collection in Webflow, import the CSV and map the fields. Everything outside that content model has to be recreated.
| WordPress item | In Webflow | How |
|---|---|---|
| Blog posts, categories, tags | CMS Collections | XML export, convert to CSV, import and map fields |
| Other repeatable content (team, projects, FAQs) | CMS Collections | Same CSV route, one Collection per type |
| Static pages (Home, About, Services) | Rebuilt | Designed again in the Webflow Designer |
| Theme and page builder layouts | Rebuilt | No import from Elementor, Divi or block themes |
| Images and media | Partly | Image fields import from URLs; other media uploaded to the Assets panel |
| Plugins (forms, SEO, booking, membership) | Replaced | Webflow features, embeds or third-party tools |
| WooCommerce shop | Separate project | Webflow Ecommerce or another platform such as Shopify |
| URLs | Kept or redirected | Match slugs where possible, 301 redirect the rest |
| Email (MX records) | Not affected | Stays with your email provider |
Webflow's app marketplace also lists apps that transfer posts, categories and tags from a WordPress site directly. Whichever route you use, check a sample of imported posts by hand: formatting inside long articles is where problems show up.
Webflow CSV import limits to plan around
Webflow's guide to importing Collection content lists what each field type accepts. The points that matter for a WordPress blog:
- CSV files can be up to 4 MB, so a large blog may need several files.
- Rich text fields accept HTML, but Webflow may strip elements, classes and attributes it does not support. Shortcodes and page builder markup will not render.
- Image fields need a direct URL to the image. Images imported this way do not get Webflow's responsive image variants (srcset and sizes).
- File fields cannot be imported; upload files manually after the rest of the data.
- Reference fields (such as a post's category) match by name converted to a slug, or by the item's custom slug.
- Webflow offers to create a backup of the site before each import.
Your Webflow plan also caps how much you can import. Webflow says the Premium site plan includes 20,000 CMS items and 40 Collections, per its May 2026 plan change notes.
Redirects and SEO: keeping your Google rankings
Changed URLs without redirects are the main way a migration loses search traffic. WordPress often uses /2024/05/post-name/ or /category/post-name/, while Webflow Collections use /collection-slug/item-slug. Every old URL that changes needs a 301 redirect to the new one.
Webflow can import 301 redirects from a CSV with two columns, old path and new path, up to 16 MB. Two cautions from Webflow's help page: a new import overwrites all existing redirects, and if any row is invalid the whole import fails. You also need to publish the site for redirects to take effect.
Our guide to migrating a website without losing SEO covers the full checklist, including crawling the old site for every URL and resubmitting the sitemap.
Domain and email: keep them separate
Webflow's hosting overview says Webflow does not provide email hosting and that you can keep your current email service and its MX records. When you connect your domain, you change the website records (A and CNAME) at your DNS host, as Webflow's custom domain guide describes. The MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for email stay exactly as they are.
If your WordPress host also provided your email, plan that move separately before cancelling the old hosting. Cancelling a cPanel plan that also hosts mailboxes deletes them.
Migration steps in order
This sequence keeps the old site live until the new one is ready and checked.
Crawl and back up the WordPress site
List every URL, export the XML, and take a full backup of files and database.
Decide what to rebuild and what to drop
Old tag pages, thin posts and unused plugins are good candidates to leave behind, with redirects.
Design and build in Webflow on the staging domain
Create Collections that match your content types before importing.
Import content and fix formatting
Convert the XML to CSV, import, and check posts with tables, embeds and galleries by hand.
Replace plugins and forms
Set up Webflow forms or your chosen tools and test every submission path.
Import redirects, connect the domain, publish
Change only the website DNS records, leave email records untouched, then submit the new sitemap in Search Console.
What Webflow costs (October 2026)
Webflow prices are in US dollars per site. From the Webflow pricing page and its May 2026 plan update, as of October 2026:
| Site plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Main limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Free | webflow.io domain only, limited CMS, 2 static pages |
| Basic | US$15/mo | US$25/mo | Custom domain, 300 static pages, no CMS |
| Premium | US$25/mo | US$39/mo | Webflow CMS (20,000 items, 40 Collections), 50 GB bandwidth |
A blog needs the Premium plan for CMS. If you are still deciding whether to move at all, our Webflow vs WordPress comparison covers cost, editing and maintenance differences.
Do it yourself or get help?
A small brochure site with a dozen pages and a short blog is a reasonable DIY project for someone comfortable with Webflow. It gets harder with hundreds of posts, custom post types, page builder content, a shop, or email hosted with the old provider.
WordPress to Webflow
IT Sorted is a Singapore-based team of developers with over 10 years of experience. Our Website Migration (S$490) takes a full backup, moves content, keeps redirects so rankings are not lost, plans the DNS cut-over to avoid email downtime, and checks every page and form after the move. It does not include a redesign; for a new design, our Business Website (S$1,490) covers up to 6 pages. Webflow plan fees are paid by you to Webflow.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Webflow's help centre describes exporting WordPress content as XML, converting it to CSV, and importing it into a Webflow CMS Collection, mapping each column to a field. CSV files can be up to 4 MB. Check imported posts by hand, because Webflow may strip unsupported HTML and WordPress shortcodes will not work.
No. WordPress plugins do not run in Webflow. Contact forms can be rebuilt with Webflow forms, and other functions such as bookings, memberships or SEO tools need Webflow features, embedded third-party tools or integrations. List every plugin before migrating and decide what replaces each one.
It should not, if done correctly. Webflow says it does not provide email hosting and you keep your existing email service and MX records. When connecting your domain, only change the website A and CNAME records. If your old web host also hosts your mailboxes, move email separately before cancelling that hosting.
Keep URLs the same where you can, and add a 301 redirect from every old URL that changes to its new address. Webflow can import redirects from a CSV file, but each import replaces all existing redirects, so combine them in one file. Submit the new sitemap in Search Console after launch.
A plan with CMS. As of October 2026, Webflow's Premium site plan costs US$25 a month billed yearly or US$39 billed monthly, and includes 20,000 CMS items and 40 Collections. The Basic plan does not include the CMS, so it suits small sites without a blog.
