Short answer
Choose Webflow for a design-led site with few integrations and hosting, updates and backups handled for you (from US$15 a month billed yearly). Choose WordPress when you need plugins, deep integrations, many languages or full control of hosting and data, and you can budget for monthly maintenance.
Webflow vs WordPress at a glance
Both can produce a fast, good-looking site. The question is who maintains it and how much flexibility you need. If you are also weighing Shopify or Wix, see our WordPress vs Shopify vs Wix guide.

WordPress
Open-source CMSSoftware free; hosting extra
- Runs on almost any host; you choose and own it
- Tens of thousands of plugins and themes
- No fixed limit on pages or posts
- You (or your provider) apply updates and handle security
- Moves between hosts with files and database
Best for: Sites that need integrations, bookings, memberships or many languages.
Editing experience: who updates the site day to day
Webflow has a visual Designer for building layouts and a simpler editing mode for content changes. Designers like the precise control. Office staff who only change text and images usually find the editing mode straightforward, but the full Designer has a learning curve similar to design software.
WordPress uses the block editor for pages and posts. How easy it feels depends on the theme and page builder chosen. A well-built WordPress site with locked layouts is easy to edit; one assembled from several page-builder plugins can be confusing.
On Webflow, extra people need workspace seats. Webflow's pricing page lists a full seat at US$45 and a limited seat for content editing at US$19 a month on monthly billing, with free seats for reviewers who only comment. WordPress lets you add as many user accounts as you like at no cost.
Hosting, security and maintenance
This is the biggest practical difference.
| Webflow | WordPress | |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Included in the site plan | Bought separately; you pick the host |
| Software updates | Done by Webflow | Core, theme and plugin updates are yours to apply |
| SSL certificate | Included | Usually free from the host, set up by you or them |
| Backups | Automatic, one-click restore | Depends on host or a backup plugin |
| Common security risk | Account takeover (protect logins with 2FA) | Outdated plugins, weak admin passwords |
| Server requirements | None for you | PHP 8.3+, MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.11+, HTTPS |
WordPress's requirements page notes it still runs on older PHP 7.4 and MySQL 5.5.5, but those versions have reached end of life and may expose the site to security vulnerabilities.
Features: plugins vs built-in tools
Webflow builds many features in: forms, CMS, site search on Premium, interactions and animations, SEO settings and an automatic sitemap. For anything else you embed a third-party tool or connect through its API. Multi-language sites use the paid Localize add-on, listed from US$9 a month.
WordPress relies on plugins for almost everything beyond pages and posts: forms, bookings, memberships, multilingual, events, directories and online stores with WooCommerce. That flexibility is the main reason businesses choose it, and also the main source of its maintenance work.
Webflow is stronger for
- Pixel-precise, custom design without code
- Animations and interactions
- Fewer moving parts to update
- Marketing teams publishing landing pages
WordPress is stronger for
- Bookings, memberships and complex forms
- Integrations with local tools and CRMs
- Very large blogs or directories
- Owning hosting and moving providers freely
Webflow pricing and CMS limits
Webflow's pricing page lists site plans per site in US dollars, plus tax. Premium's price rises with the bandwidth tier you choose.
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Key limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Free | webflow.io address, 2 static pages, 50 CMS items |
| Basic | US$15/mo | US$25/mo | Custom domain, 300 static pages, 10 GB bandwidth, no CMS |
| Premium | From US$25/mo | From US$39/mo | CMS with 20,000 items and 40 collections, from 50 GB bandwidth |
Webflow notes that going over the bandwidth limit for two consecutive months triggers an automatic plan upgrade. For a typical SME site that is unlikely, but image-heavy sites should watch it. A blog, team pages or case listings need the CMS, so most business sites end up on Premium rather than Basic.
Long-term cost compared
Upfront build costs are similar for comparable sites. Running costs differ in shape: Webflow is one predictable plan; WordPress is cheap hosting plus maintenance that someone has to do. Our web hosting cost guide gives current Singapore hosting prices.

Do it yourself or get help?
Both platforms let a confident owner build a simple site. The decision that matters is who maintains it after launch. If you go with WordPress, hire someone who will also look after updates, or read our guide to hiring a WordPress developer before you commit.
Our Business Website (S$1,490) builds up to 6 pages that you can edit yourself, with a contact form, WhatsApp button and on-page SEO, on accounts in your name. Website Pro (S$2,990) adds up to 12 pages, a blog, two languages and booking or enquiry forms. Domain and hosting fees are paid to the provider in your name.
Frequently asked questions
Neither has a built-in ranking advantage. Both let you set titles, descriptions, clean URLs and sitemaps, and both can be fast. WordPress needs care with plugins and hosting to stay fast, while Webflow handles hosting speed for you. Content quality, site structure and links matter far more than the platform.
As of October 2026, Webflow's Basic site plan costs US$15 a month billed yearly or US$25 monthly, without a CMS. Premium, which includes the CMS, starts at US$25 a month billed yearly or US$39 monthly, rising with bandwidth. Prices are per site, in US dollars, plus tax. Extra editor seats cost more.
Yes, but expect a rebuild. Webflow lets you export site code and CMS collections as CSV files on some plans, but its CMS and hosting do not run outside Webflow. A move usually means recreating the design in WordPress and importing content. WordPress sites move between hosts more easily because you control the files and database.
The WordPress core is well maintained, but sites become vulnerable when plugins, themes or the core are not updated, or admin passwords are weak. Webflow handles platform security for you, leaving mainly account security. A maintained WordPress site with updates, a firewall and admin 2FA is reasonably secure.
It depends on who maintains WordPress. If you update it yourself on low-cost hosting, WordPress is usually cheaper. If you pay for managed hosting and a monthly care plan, the total often matches or exceeds Webflow Premium. Compare the full three-year cost including maintenance, not just the plan price.
