Short answer
On Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Premium, use the included Clipchamp recorder. On Google Workspace, use Google Vids, listed even on Business Starter. Loom shares more easily outside the company; its free plan caps recordings at 5 minutes and Business is US$18 per user a month.
Loom vs Clipchamp vs Google Vids at a glance
All three record your screen, your webcam or both, and produce a link people can watch. The differences are where the videos live, what is included in what you already pay for, and how easily outsiders can view them.

Microsoft's Clipchamp service description lists Clipchamp Standard as included in Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Business Premium (not Business Basic). Google's Workspace pricing page lists Google Vids among Business Starter features, with Starter from S$9.40 per user per month as of October 2026.
Loom pricing and limits (October 2026)
Loom, now owned by Atlassian, prices per user. The Loom pricing page, checked 19 October 2026, shows these plans in US dollars.
| Plan | Price (billed monthly) | Key limits and features |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | US$0 | 25 videos per person, 5-minute screen recordings, up to 720p, up to 50 members |
| Business | US$18 per user/month | Unlimited videos and length, upload and download, remove Loom branding, up to 4K |
| Business + AI | US$24 per user/month | Adds AI summaries, chapters, filler word and silence removal, auto meeting notes |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | SSO and SCIM, advanced privacy controls |
The 5-minute cap on the free plan is the practical limit for SOPs: a procedure with several systems often takes longer, so you'd split it into parts or pay. For a team of five on Business, that's US$90 a month on top of Microsoft 365 or Workspace.
Microsoft 365: Clipchamp recorder, Stream and Teams
Microsoft's Clipchamp screen recorder help describes the flow: from the Clipchamp home page choose Create new, Screen recording, pick a tab, window or the whole screen, record, trim, then Finish to upload to Microsoft 365. The player page lets you generate a transcript, add chapters, suppress background noise, share a link and see view analytics.
Because videos are files in OneDrive or SharePoint, the usual permissions apply: share with a person, a group or everyone in the company, and keep external sharing off for internal SOPs. That's the main advantage for anything showing customer records or internal systems. Videos count against your OneDrive or SharePoint storage, so tidy up drafts.
Teams meeting recordings are also saved to OneDrive or SharePoint and can be opened in Clipchamp to cut a training clip out of a longer session. If you transcribe meetings already, our Singlish transcription guide covers accuracy, and our Zoom vs Teams vs Google Meet comparison covers recording in each meeting tool.
Google Workspace: Google Vids for SOP videos
Google Vids has a recording studio for screen, webcam and audio-only recordings, and a scene-based editor. Google's February 2026 Workspace update made the read-along teleprompter, transcript trim (edit by deleting words or silences from the transcript) and styled captions available to all users, including Business Starter after its promotional period ended in May 2026.
Gemini features in Vids, such as generating a draft video from a document or AI voiceovers, depend on your plan and monthly limits. For SOPs you rarely need them: a narrated screen recording with captions is enough. Videos sit in Google Drive and follow your Drive sharing settings, so keep SOP folders shared with the team only.
Which screen recorder suits which business
Most small businesses should start with what they already pay for, and add Loom only for the people who need its sharing.
| Your situation | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Premium, internal SOPs | Clipchamp, store in SharePoint | Included; permissions and retention already set |
| Microsoft 365 Business Basic | Loom free for short clips, or upgrade staff who record | Clipchamp Standard is not in Basic |
| Google Workspace, internal SOPs | Google Vids, store in a shared drive | Included; Drive sharing rules apply |
| Lots of quick videos to clients and freelancers | Loom Business for those users | Simple links, viewer insights, comments |
| Videos showing customer data or banking screens | Built-in tool, internal sharing only | Data stays in your tenant |
How to record a good SOP video in 10 minutes
The tool matters less than the habits. A good procedure video is short, specific and easy to update.
SOP recording checklist
Do it yourself or get help?
Recording is easy to start on your own: open Clipchamp or Vids and record one procedure today. The work that takes time is deciding where SOPs live, who can see them, and turning recordings into written steps that can be searched.
Our Workflow Automation service (S$390 per workflow) can set up an automatic flow from recording to transcript to a draft written SOP in your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, so each new video lands in the right folder with a text version attached.
Frequently asked questions
If you already pay for Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Premium, Clipchamp is included and records screen and webcam to OneDrive or SharePoint. Google Workspace lists Google Vids on its business plans, including Business Starter. Both share videos using your existing permissions. Loom's own free plan allows 25 videos per person of up to 5 minutes each.
As of October 2026, Loom's pricing page lists Starter free, Business at US$18 per user per month and Business + AI at US$24 per user per month when billed monthly, with annual billing saving up to 17%. Enterprise pricing is by quote and adds SSO and SCIM.
Yes, on some plans. Microsoft lists Clipchamp Standard as included in Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Business Premium. Its screen recorder captures a tab, a window or the whole screen with webcam, and saves to Microsoft 365, where you can add a transcript, chapters and share a link. Business Basic does not include it.
Yes. Google Vids has a recording studio for screen recordings with or without your webcam, and audio-only recordings. Since February 2026 Google has made the teleprompter, transcript trim and styled captions available to all users. Videos are saved in Google Drive and follow your Drive sharing settings.
Avoid it where you can by using test records. If real data must appear, use a tool that keeps videos inside your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace with internal-only sharing, restrict the folder to staff who need it, and delete old versions. Don't share such videos with public links.
