Google AI Pro vs ChatGPT Plus vs Claude Pro: Which to Pay For

Google AI Pro, ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro are the three individual AI subscriptions most people in Singapore weigh up, and they cost roughly the same. The differences are in what comes bundled, how your data is used by default, and whether a personal plan is acceptable for business work at all. This page compares the three using each vendor's own pricing pages as of October 2026, explains what you give up compared with business plans, and when a sole proprietor can sensibly use one.

Short answer

All three cost about the same: Google AI Pro S$28.99 a month on Google's Singapore page, ChatGPT Plus US$20 and Claude Pro US$20 monthly (US$17 a month billed yearly), before tax. Pick by the tools you already use, then switch off model training in settings before using it for work.

The full price ladder for each vendor

Each vendor has a cheaper and a more expensive tier around these plans. If your usage is light or heavy, the middle plan may not be the right one.

Vendor pricing pages, 18 October 2026. US-dollar prices are before tax; SGD prices as shown on Google's Singapore page.

Since 2020, GST has applied to digital services bought from overseas providers by Singapore consumers, so expect it on your bill for the US-dollar plans if the vendor is registered under IRAS's overseas vendor regime. Your card statement will also include any currency conversion fee from your bank.

Which models and features you get

All three give you their vendor's current top models with usage limits. As of October 2026, Google lists Gemini 4 Argon in AI Pro, Anthropic includes Opus, Sonnet and Haiku models in Pro, and ChatGPT Plus gives higher limits on OpenAI's latest models. Our Q4 2026 model roundup lists the releases and what published leaderboards say about them.

IT Sorted did not run its own head-to-head tests. Published leaderboards move every few weeks, and the top models from all three vendors score close to each other. For most small business tasks (drafting emails, summarising documents, rewriting web copy), the difference you will notice is the surrounding tools, not raw model quality.

  • Google AI Pro wins on bundling: Gemini inside personal Gmail and Docs, plus 5 TB of storage that can replace a separate Google One plan.
  • ChatGPT Plus has the broadest set of features and integrations, and the most people already know how to use it.
  • Claude Pro includes Claude Code and works inside Chrome and Microsoft 365 apps, which suits people who write or code all day.

Data training defaults: check this before work use

This is the part most people skip. On individual plans, your conversations can be used to improve the vendor's models unless you change a setting.

PlanDefaultHow to change it
Google AI Pro (Gemini app)Chats may be used to improve Google's services, and a subset is read by human reviewers, while Keep Activity is onTurn off Keep Activity, or use temporary chats
ChatGPT PlusChats can be used for training unless switched offSettings, Data controls, turn off model improvement
Claude ProModel training listed as opt-out on Anthropic's pricing pagePrivacy settings, turn off training
Sources: Gemini Apps Privacy Hub, OpenAI and Anthropic pricing and privacy pages, October 2026.

Google's Gemini Apps Privacy Hub says not to enter confidential information you would not want a reviewer to see, and that with Keep Activity off, chats are kept for up to 72 hours to provide the service. Even with training off, a personal plan is still a personal account: the vendor's consumer terms apply, not a business data agreement.

When an individual plan is acceptable for work

For a sole proprietor or freelancer, an individual plan can be reasonable if you set it up carefully.

Individual plan is fine if

  • you work alone and own the account
  • training is switched off and MFA is on
  • you only use it for drafting, ideas and public information
  • you never paste client personal data or confidential files

Use a business plan if

  • two or more people need access
  • you handle customer, patient or staff personal data
  • clients require a data processing agreement
  • you need to remove access when staff leave

For teams, the business versions cost about the same per person and add company ownership, admin controls and no training by default. Our guides to ChatGPT Business pricing and the Claude Team plan explain those, and ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini for business compares them side by side.

How to choose in 30 minutes

Rather than reading reviews, test the free tiers on your own work.

  1. Pick three real tasks

For example, a customer email reply, a summary of a long PDF you can share, and a rewrite of a web page. Use material with no personal data.

  2. Run each task on all three free plans

Use the same prompt in each. Note which answer you would send with the fewest edits.

  3. Check how each fits your tools

If you live in Gmail and Drive, try Gemini there. If you use Microsoft 365, try Claude or ChatGPT with Office files.

  4. Subscribe to one plan for a month

Turn off training and turn on MFA on day one. Cancel and switch if it does not save you time.

Do it yourself or get help?

Choosing and setting up one personal AI plan is something you can do yourself in an afternoon. The harder part comes when staff start using a mix of personal plans for work, with no rules on what goes in.

Our Security Awareness Training (S$390) covers safe AI use alongside phishing and passwords, with short monthly lessons and completion tracking, so your team knows what never to paste into an AI tool and which plan to use for work.

Frequently asked questions

Google's Singapore Google AI plans page lists Google AI Pro at S$28.99 a month as of October 2026. It includes higher Gemini limits with access to Gemini 4 Argon, Gemini in personal Gmail and Docs, Deep Research and 5 TB of storage shared with up to five family members. There is also a cheaper Google AI Plus plan at S$6.98 a month.

Both are US$20 a month on monthly billing. Claude Pro also offers annual billing at US$200 up front, which works out to about US$17 a month. ChatGPT Plus is monthly. Prices are listed in US dollars before tax, so your Singapore card statement will show a converted amount plus any GST and bank fees.

You can, but it is a personal account owned by whoever pays for it. There is no admin console, single sign-on or company control, and chats can be used for training unless switched off. It can suit a sole proprietor who keeps personal data out. Teams should use ChatGPT Business, which is company-owned and does not train on data by default.

Google AI plans are sold through Google One for personal Google accounts. Business users on Google Workspace get Gemini through their Workspace plan instead, which comes with Workspace data protections. If your work email is on Workspace, check what your Workspace edition already includes before buying a personal AI Pro plan.

On individual plans, conversations can be used to improve models by default unless you change a setting. In Gemini, turning off Keep Activity stops future chats being used to improve models. ChatGPT and Claude have training switches in their privacy or data control settings. Business plans from all three vendors do not train on your data by default.
