Short answer
ChatGPT Business costs US$20 per user per month billed annually or US$25 monthly, minimum two seats (October 2026). Plus is US$20 a month but is a personal account. Enterprise is quoted by OpenAI's sales team. For a team that handles customer data, Business is the sensible minimum.

What Business adds over Plus
On features for one person, Plus and a Business Standard seat are close. The difference is who controls the account and the data.
ChatGPT Plus
US$20/user/mo
- Owned by the employee, paid on their card or reimbursed
- Chats can be used for training unless the user switches it off
- No admin console, SSO or bulk user management
- You cannot remove access when the person leaves
Best for: Sole proprietors working on non-sensitive tasks.
ChatGPT Business
Most teamsUS$20 annual / US$25 monthly
- Workspace owned by your company, one bill
- No training on business data by default
- Admin roles, SAML SSO, MFA and spend controls
- Shared projects, GPTs and company knowledge connectors
- Data processing addendum (DPA) available
Best for: Any team of 2+ handling customer or staff data.
ChatGPT Enterprise
Quoted
- Everything in Business
- SCIM user provisioning and role-based access controls
- Admin-set data retention and Compliance API
- Data residency options, including Singapore
Best for: Larger firms with compliance or audit requirements.
OpenAI's Enterprise privacy page states that it does not train on data from Business or Enterprise workspaces by default, that you own your inputs and outputs where the law allows, and that a DPA can be signed for Business and Enterprise. On Enterprise, admins control how long data is retained, and deleted conversations are removed within 30 days unless the law requires otherwise.
What a team of five pays per year
A worked example for a five-person office on standard Business seats, using the published US dollar prices. Your card issuer will convert to SGD and may add a foreign-currency fee.
- 5 Standard seats, annual billingUS$20 x 5 x 12US$1,200/year
- 5 Standard seats, monthly billingUS$25 x 5 x 12; cancel any monthUS$1,500/year
- Swap 1 seat to Premium (annual)For one heavy user: US$100 instead of US$20 a month+US$960/year
- 5 separate Plus accountsSame cost as annual Business, without company controlUS$1,200/year
Approximate, as of October 2026, before GST and bank FX fees. API usage is billed separately and is not included in any ChatGPT plan.
The comparison in the last row is the point most owners miss. Five Plus subscriptions cost the same as five annual Business seats, but the company owns nothing: no admin, no offboarding and training switched on by default.
GST on ChatGPT subscriptions in Singapore
Since 2020, GST applies to digital services bought from overseas, and since 2023 to all remote services. IRAS runs two regimes, explained on its overseas businesses page/gst-and-digital-economy/overseas-businesses):
- If your business is not GST-registered: an overseas provider registered under the overseas vendor registration (OVR) regime charges GST at the current 9% rate/basics-of-gst/current-gst-rates) on your subscription.
- If your business is GST-registered: you are treated as a business customer. If you are not entitled to full input tax claims, you must account for GST on imported services yourself under the reverse charge rules.
In practice, enter your company name, address and GST number (if you have one) in the billing settings, keep the invoices, and let your accountant decide the treatment. The same applies to Claude, Gemini add-ons and other overseas software.
When Plus accounts become a PDPA and offboarding risk
Many small businesses start with one person on Plus and end up with five people on five personal accounts. That is where problems start.
Plus is acceptable when
- You are a sole proprietor
- Only public information goes in (marketing drafts, research)
- Training is switched off in Data controls
- The account is in the business owner's name
Move to Business when
- Two or more staff use ChatGPT for work
- Customer emails, quotes or HR text are pasted in
- Staff leave and keep their chat history with your data
- You need to show a client or auditor how AI data is handled
Under the PDPA your organisation is responsible for personal data staff put into tools, and the PDPC's 2026 generative AI guidelines expect written rules on what goes into prompts. Our ChatGPT at work policy guide has a one-page template.
ChatGPT Business vs Claude Team vs Gemini
ChatGPT is not the only option. Claude Team lists the same headline price, and Gemini is included in Google Workspace plans many businesses already pay for. Do it yourself or get help?
Buying ChatGPT Business takes ten minutes with a company card. Doing it properly takes a little longer:
- create the workspace with a shared admin address, not one person's mailbox;
- invite staff with their work email and ask them to stop using personal accounts for work;
- turn on SSO with Microsoft 365 or Google if you can, and MFA for everyone;
- review which apps and connectors (Drive, SharePoint, Slack) the workspace may access;
- write down the AI rules and brief staff.
Microsoft 365 / Google Security Lockdown (S$590) sets up MFA, SSO-ready admin roles and sharing rules across your accounts. Security Awareness Training (S$390) adds an AI-use policy and a short lesson on what not to paste. You buy the ChatGPT seats directly from OpenAI; IT Sorted earns no referral fees.

Yes. OpenAI renamed ChatGPT Team to ChatGPT Business on 29 August 2025. The rename did not change the plan itself, although seat types and prices have changed since. Any reference to ChatGPT Team in older quotes or articles means the Business plan.
No. A ChatGPT Business workspace needs at least two seats, either two Standard, two Premium or one of each. A sole proprietor usually uses Plus with training switched off in Data controls, or buys two Business seats if company ownership and admin controls matter.
No. OpenAI states that a ChatGPT Business subscription does not include API usage, which is billed separately on the API platform. If you plan to connect ChatGPT models to your website or software, budget for API usage on top of any ChatGPT seats.
GST applies to remote services bought from overseas. A business that is not GST-registered is charged GST at 9% by overseas vendors registered under IRAS's overseas vendor regime. A GST-registered business may need to account for GST under the reverse charge if it cannot claim full input tax. Ask your accountant.
