Short answer
ChatGPT Go is a low-cost personal plan (US$8 a month on OpenAI's pricing page, October 2026) that can show ads, like Free. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise are ad-free. For work, a Business plan gives company ownership and no training on your data by default. Singapore firms can already use OpenAI's Ads Manager.
What ChatGPT Go is and what it costs
OpenAI's help article What is ChatGPT Go? describes it as a low-cost subscription with everything in Free plus higher limits for image generation, file uploads and data analysis, longer memory, and access to projects and custom GPTs. It is available in all countries where ChatGPT is supported, which includes Singapore. Purchases are in US dollars, with local-currency billing only in some countries, and it is monthly only.

How ads in ChatGPT work, according to OpenAI
OpenAI's Ads in ChatGPT FAQ and the ChatGPT release notes set out the rollout so far:
| Date | What OpenAI announced |
|---|---|
| 9 Feb 2026 | Ad test starts in the US for logged-in adults on Free and Go |
| 16 Apr 2026 | Ads rolling out to Free and Go users in Australia, New Zealand and Canada |
| 11 Jun 2026 | Ads rolling out to Free and Go users in the UK |
- Ads appear below a ChatGPT answer as one labelled ad unit. OpenAI is also testing image ads during image generation.
- OpenAI says ads do not influence answers and run on separate systems. When several ads qualify, relevance and advertiser bids decide which shows.
- Ads use the current conversation, general location and language, and, if ad personalisation is on, past chats and memories. Advertisers only get aggregated figures such as views and clicks.
- No ads in Temporary Chats, near sensitive topics such as personal health or politics, or for accounts identified as under 18.
Note one inconsistency: the Go help article still says OpenAI "may start testing ads in ChatGPT Go in the future", while the FAQ and pricing page say Go may include ads. Assume Go can show ads.
What this means when staff use Free or Go at work
Ads themselves are not the main business risk. The bigger issue is that Free and Go are personal accounts. OpenAI's Go article says it may use conversations to improve model performance and safety unless the user opts out in Data Controls. With ads on, the content of a chat can also shape which ads that person sees, even though advertisers do not see the chat.

Can a Singapore business advertise in ChatGPT?
Yes, with limits. OpenAI's Ads Manager availability page lists Singapore as available for self-service, which means the legal entity that advertises and is billed must be based in a listed country. Larger advertisers can contact OpenAI's ads team for managed support. You sign up at ads.openai.com.
Being able to buy ads is not the same as reaching Singapore users. As of 18 October 2026, OpenAI's release notes only announced user-side ads in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. A Singapore travel, education or e-commerce business selling into those markets could test it now; a business serving only local customers may have little audience until ads reach Singapore users.
Worth testing if
- You sell consumer goods, travel, local services, digital products or education
- You already sell into the US, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand
- Your landing pages are clear and claims are easy to back up
Wait if
- You only serve customers in Singapore
- You are in finance, health or legal services (case-by-case approval only)
- Your offer sits in a category OpenAI does not allow at launch
OpenAI's ad policies in brief
OpenAI's ad policies say that during the initial test, ads are mainly limited to consumer categories: lifestyle and household goods, local services, travel and experiences, and digital products or education. Financial services, healthcare and legal services may be approved for selected advertisers, reviewed manually case by case. Dating, health claims, alcohol and drugs, gambling and political content are disallowed at launch.
All ads must be truthful, must not imitate the ChatGPT interface, and the landing page must match the approved ad. Ads will not be placed next to conversations on sensitive topics, including mental and personal health.
Separately from paid ads, ChatGPT search already sends visitors to websites it cites. That is free and works in Singapore today. Our guide to visibility in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews covers how to be one of those cited sources.
Do it yourself or get help?
Choosing a plan and writing a one-page AI rule for staff is an owner's job and takes an afternoon. Help is useful when you want staff trained on what not to paste into AI tools and how to spot sponsored or fake results, or when you want your own AI assistant on your website instead of sending customers to ChatGPT.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. OpenAI's help article says ChatGPT Go is available in all countries where ChatGPT is supported, and Singapore is one of them. It is billed monthly, purchases are in US dollars with local-currency billing in a limited set of countries, and there is no annual option for Go.
It can. OpenAI's ads FAQ says ads may appear for users on the Free and Go plans, and the pricing page notes the Go plan may include ads. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts do not have ads. As of October 2026, user-side ads had been announced for the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
OpenAI says no. Advertisers do not see chats, chat history, memories or personal details, and receive only aggregated results such as views and clicks. Your conversation can still influence which ad you see, and if you message an advertiser through an ad, they see the messages you send them.
Go is a personal plan. It gives one person higher limits than Free, but the account belongs to the employee, may show ads, and conversations may be used for training unless the user opts out. For staff handling customer or company data, a Business workspace with admin controls is the safer choice.
OpenAI lists a few options: upgrade to an ad-free plan such as Plus or Pro, choose the free no-ads option with tighter limits where offered, or use Temporary Chat, which does not show ads. You can also turn off ad personalisation in Settings under Ad Controls, though contextual ads still appear.
