Short answer
For most small businesses Canva is the best home for social posts because Brand Kits and Magic Resize handle logo, colours and sizes. Use ChatGPT Images to generate or edit a hero image from a description, and Adobe Firefly when you want Adobe's licensed-data models. All three allow commercial use.
Quick comparison: which tool does what

Brand consistency: logos, colours and fonts
Consistency matters more than any single image. A feed where every post uses different fonts and colours looks less professional than one with plain but consistent posts.
| Feature | Canva | ChatGPT Images | Adobe Firefly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Store logo, colours, fonts | Brand Kit (Pro and Business) | No; describe them in each prompt | Via Adobe Express Premium, included in Firefly plans |
| Lock brand fonts and colours for staff | Brand Controls on Business | No | Check Adobe Express team plans |
| Reusable post templates | Yes | Image templates for posters and logos | Via Adobe Express |
| Place an exact logo file | Yes, from Brand Kit | Upload and ask; may redraw it | Yes, in Express or Photoshop |

Text in images, resizing and formats
Social posts usually need a headline, a price or a date, and several sizes: square or portrait for feed, 9:16 for stories and reels, and landscape for some ads.
| Task | Canva | ChatGPT Images | Adobe Firefly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Add headline or price text | Editable text layers, brand fonts | Generated into the image; edit by asking | Editable text layers in Express |
| Correct a typo | Click and retype | Ask for a revision or use the selection editor | Retype in Express |
| Resize for feed, story, ad | Magic Resize (Pro and up) | Choose aspect ratio per image | Generative Expand, or resize in Express |
| Edit part of an image | AI editing tools | Select an area and describe the change | Generative Fill |
OpenAI's ChatGPT Images help article says ChatGPT can follow instructions to add text, make backgrounds transparent and generate images in any aspect ratio, and that Images 2.5 (announced 8 September 2026) is available to all ChatGPT users. For posts with prices or dates, editable text in a design tool is still safer: one wrong digit in a generated image means regenerating it, while in Canva you just retype. Canva's resize help page lists Magic Resize on Pro, Business, Enterprise and Teams plans.
Commercial-use terms and who carries the risk
All three vendors let you use images you create commercially, including in paid ads. None of them gives a small business on a standard plan protection if an image turns out to infringe someone's rights.
| Vendor | Can you use outputs in ads? | Indemnity for SMEs? | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canva | Yes, per its AI Product Terms | No; Canva Shield covers eligible Enterprise customers | Check terms for specific AI apps |
| OpenAI (ChatGPT) | Yes; you own outputs per OpenAI's terms | No on standard plans | Avoid prompts naming brands, artists or real people |
| Adobe Firefly | Yes | IP indemnity on qualifying enterprise plans only | Adobe-trained models use licensed and public domain data; partner models differ |
Singapore copyright protection needs a human author, so a purely AI-generated image may not be protected and competitors could reuse it. Our guide to using AI images commercially in Singapore explains the licence terms and copyright position in detail. Meta may also label AI-generated images in some cases.
A simple workflow: brief, generate, brand check, approve
The tool matters less than the process. A short workflow keeps quality consistent and stops off-brand or risky images going live.
Write a one-line brief
What the post is for, the offer, the audience and the call to action. For example: "Weekday lunch set S$12.90, office workers near Raffles Place, order on WhatsApp".
Generate the image
Use ChatGPT Images or Firefly for a scene or product shot, or Canva's AI inside a template. Describe style and mood, not brands or artists.
Build the post in your design tool
Place the image in a Canva or Express template, add your real logo and editable text in brand fonts.
Brand and fact check
Check prices, dates, spelling and that people and products look realistic. Remove anything resembling another brand.
Resize and approve
Create feed, story and ad sizes, then have one person approve before posting or running ads.

How to run your own 30-minute test
Published comparisons are a start, but your products, style and staff matter more. A quick side-by-side test settles it.
30-minute comparison
Most small businesses find they keep Canva as the layout tool and add one generator for images. Decide based on what your team will actually use every week.
Do it yourself or get help?
A business owner comfortable with Canva can produce consistent posts with a Brand Kit and a few templates. Help is worth it when you need a set of ad creatives that match your brand and Meta's ad rules, or when posts feed into paid campaigns.
Our Extra Ad Creative Pack (S$290 per pack) produces on-brand ad variations in the sizes Meta needs. Meta Ads Setup (S$590) sets up your Facebook and Instagram ad account, pixel and first campaigns. IT Sorted is a Singapore-based team of developers with over 10 years of experience. You pay upfront, send your brief in writing through the site chat or contact form, and track progress on your order page.
Frequently asked questions
For finished posts, Canva is usually more practical because Brand Kits keep your logo, colours and fonts consistent and Magic Resize creates feed and story sizes. ChatGPT Images is useful for generating or editing a specific image from a description. Many businesses generate an image in ChatGPT, then build the post in Canva.
Yes. Adobe allows commercial use of Firefly outputs, and says its own Firefly models are trained on licensed content such as Adobe Stock and public domain material. Partner models available in Firefly, such as those from Google or OpenAI, are not Adobe-trained, so check their terms. IP indemnity is offered only on qualifying enterprise plans.
Canva Pro is S$165 a year for one person and Canva Business S$250 per person a year in Singapore. ChatGPT has a free tier, Plus at US$20 a month and Business at US$20 per user a month billed annually. Adobe Firefly plans start at US$9.99 a month with 2,000 generative credits and go up to US$199.99.
OpenAI says ChatGPT Images can follow instructions to add text and edit uploaded images. However, generators can subtly redraw a logo or misspell text. For posts with prices, dates or your logo, generate the background image with AI and add the real logo file and editable text in a design tool such as Canva or Adobe Express.
The vendors' terms let you use the outputs commercially, but Singapore copyright requires a human author, so a purely AI-generated image may not be protected. Adding your own design work, photos and text strengthens your position. Avoid prompts naming brands, artists or real people, since you carry the risk if an image infringes someone's rights.
