Short answer
Show your LEW's EMA licence class and number or your PUB Licensed Plumber number, and link to the official search so customers can check. Add a tap-to-call button, a short quote form with photo upload, and one genuine page per service, not near-identical pages for every town.
Which licences electricians and plumbers should show
Your licence is your strongest trust signal, because customers are told by the regulators to check it. Show it prominently and make it easy to verify.
| Trade | Who licenses | What to show | Where customers verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrical work | Energy Market Authority (EMA) | LEW name, licence class and licence number | EMA's ELISE portal |
| Water service and sanitary plumbing | PUB | Licensed Plumber name and licence number | PUB's Find a Licensed Plumber search |
| Aircon servicing and installation | No single trade licence for household servicing found; electrical work follows EMA rules | Licensed electrical workers you use, brand authorisations, warranty terms | ELISE for those workers |
Put the details on an 'About' or 'Licences' page and in the footer. Show the licence holder's name, as the licence is issued to an individual worker, and make clear which jobs that person carries out or supervises.
EMA Licensed Electrical Worker classes explained
EMA's guide to engaging licensed workers says electrical work at home or the office should be carried out or supervised by a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW). That covers installing or modifying wiring, adding or replacing power points, switches and lighting points, and repairing or replacing consumer control units or circuit breakers.
- Licensed Electrician: installations up to 45 kVA approved load, 1,000 V and below. EMA's example is that electrical work in an HDB flat needs an electrician.
- Licensed Electrical Technician: up to 150 kVA for design and 500 kVA for operation, 1,000 V and below, for larger premises such as a food court.
- Licensed Electrical Engineer: no load limit, subject to licence conditions.
EMA tells consumers that every LEW has a licence card with a photo, name, identity card number and licence number, and to check it before work starts. It points them to the ELISE portal to search for 'Electrical worker who offers services to consumers'. Link to ELISE from your site, but never publish the IC number shown on the card.
PUB Licensed Plumbers: what the rules say
PUB's plumbing works page says all regulated water service and sanitary plumbing works must be carried out by Licensed Plumbers, except simple works that handymen may do, such as replacing a tap, shower hose or flushing mechanism. Since 1 April 2018 it has been an offence for anyone to engage an unlicensed plumber for regulated works.
PUB advises homeowners to find Licensed Plumbers through its online search, the Singapore Plumbing Society or their Town Council, to ask for itemised quotations and to get at least three quotes. It also notes that PUB charges no fees for regulatory submissions; any submission fee is the plumber's own commercial charge.
Turn that advice into your quote page. Customers are told to compare itemised quotes, so make yours easy to compare: list what is included, separate any submission charge, and say whether a Licensed Plumber does the work or supervises it.
Service-area pages without doorway spam
Many trade websites create a page for every town, such as 'plumber Tampines', 'plumber Bedok', 'plumber Jurong', with the same text and the town name swapped. Google's spam policies list 'having multiple domain names or pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page' as doorway abuse.
Do this
- One strong page per service: rewiring, DB box replacement, leak repair, toilet bowl replacement
- A single service-area section listing the regions you cover
- Real job photos and notes, with customer permission
- A Google Business Profile with an accurate service area
Avoid this
- Dozens of town pages with swapped place names
- Extra domains such as best-plumber-east.sg pointing to one site
- Fake addresses to appear 'local' in every district
- Keyword lists of every estate in the footer

Reviews and photos that build trust
After licences, recent reviews are what most people check. Ask happy customers for a Google review the same day the job is done; our guide to automating Google review requests shows how to send the link by WhatsApp or SMS.
Trade website checklist
Cleaning companies face a similar licence-display question with NEA; our guide to cleaning company websites and NEA licences shows another way to lay it out.
Do it yourself or get help?
A simple builder site can work if it has the licence details, a call button and a quote form. Most trade sites fail on mobile speed and on making the next step obvious, not on design.
Our Business Website (S$1,490) builds up to six pages with a licence page, service pages, WhatsApp button and on-page SEO. For servicing and installation jobs, the Online Booking System (S$390) lets customers book slots and get automatic reminders.
Frequently asked questions
EMA directs consumers to its ELISE portal, where they can search under 'Electrical worker who offers services to consumers'. Every Licensed Electrical Worker also has an EMA licence card showing a photo, name and licence number. Linking to ELISE from your website and showing your licence number makes this check quick.
For regulated water service and sanitary plumbing works, yes. PUB says that since 1 April 2018 it is an offence to engage a plumber who is not licensed by PUB for those works. Simple jobs such as replacing a tap, shower hose or cistern flushing mechanism can be done by handymen without a licence.
There are three: Licensed Electrician for installations up to 45 kVA at 1,000 volts and below, Licensed Electrical Technician for up to 150 kVA design and 500 kVA operation, and Licensed Electrical Engineer with no load limit, subject to licence conditions. EMA says HDB flat work needs an electrician.
Not with near-identical text. Google's spam policies list pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page as doorway abuse. Create one useful page per service, list your service areas in one place, and set an accurate service area on your Google Business Profile.
We did not find a general trade licence for household aircon servicing. Related work is regulated: new electrical points or wiring need a Licensed Electrical Worker, and NEA requires certified technicians for regulated work on large water-cooled chillers. Show the licences of the workers you use.
